Algerian-born Yves Saint Laurent was enamored with the City of Light, the city where he paved his brilliant path in the domains of fashion and art. He fervently wanted to create an olfactory homage to this place where dreams were made, with the dedication “Je t’aime, mon Paris” (My Paris, I love you). Renowned perfumer Sophia Grojsman stepped in to create an unforgettable chord of powdery rose and vivid violet, cut with a little alcoholic fruitiness, which would make men and women lose their minds upon smelling it. One night, after she had tweaked the proportions and was returning home, she recounts she was followed by a drunk who, after some quickening of her step, called out “Hey lady, I’m not following you; I’m just trying to smell your perfume!” The dice had been cast and Paris the fragrance had taken its final form by which we all came to know and cherish it.
